Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) appraisal

On August 26, 2021, BAE Systems achieved Capability Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI®) for Development v2.0 Maturity Level 5 for the seventh consecutive time since 2003.

With an outstanding set of company standard processes, BAE Systems understands how to properly deploy and tailor these processes to projects. In addition, processes are in place to quantitatively manage and optimize in support of our organizational quantitative management and corporate strategic goals.

CMMI Level 5 rating includes the following benefits:

  • Recognized company standard processes focusing on consistent performance
  • Standard processes designed to increase productivity and customer satisfaction
  • Processes lead to cost savings through reduced rework and increased quality
  • Provides BAE Systems with a global competitive edge
  • Companywide and cross-departmental teamwork and support is paramount in maintaining BAE Systems’ CMMI Level 5 rating. The GXP® group is among the programs integral to sustaining the high rating year after year.
The GXP team follows well-defined CMMI Level 5 procedures to plan, monitor, and control the project, and incorporates best practices that span the entire project lifecycle to provide a mechanism for continuous, effective collaboration with team members and the customer.

The comprehensive CMMI Level 5 approach to quantitative management is based on practical experience gained from performing concurrent, multi-baseline system development in both commercial development and in government contracting roles. Metrics are reviewed regularly with Leadership. Root causal analysis procedures, combined with system monitoring tools used in fault identification and diagnosis are used to address and prevent future occurrences of problems encountered during development and in the operational environment.
