Photogrammetry, 3D Visualization, and Lidar (P3DL) 2021

The Photogrammetry, 3D Visualization, and Lidar (P3DL) Community of Practice Conference will be taking place August 9-12, 2021. This is a joint conference between Photogrammetry and 3D Visualization CoP and the Lidar/3D CoP. We understand and are monitoring the current COVID-19 situation, and the planning committee is currently working on the best way to facilitate the upcoming event. As the event approaches we will post updates on the event schedule and any additional information you might need.

The goal of the conference is to collaboratively drive innovation and explore capabilities for precision geopositioning/targeting, precision mensuration, 3D visualization, lidar, and 3D data related technologies to help answer current and emerging DoD and IC needs. Attendees from across the U.S. government, academia, and industry are invited to collaborate on innovations in sensor advancement, algorithm development, and tradecraft. We endeavor to create an environment where participants can discuss successes and challenges, and exchange ideas on future work.

Special GXP presentations

Bathymetry from Satellite Imagery
Hosted by Reuben Settergren – CLASSIFIED SESSION
Date: Monday 9 August, 1035 EST
Learn how automatic terrain generation with SOCET GXP® software delivers accurate bathymetric depths on satellite imagery, correcting for the refraction of light through bodies of water, thereby allowing for effective and precise image exploitation. A detailed case study will be examined with results compared to a parallel lidar analysis.

GXP ecosystem
Hosted by Rick Racine – UNCLASSIFIED SESSION
Date: Wednesday 11 August, 1300 – 1330 EST
Providing an overview of BAE Systems’ Geospatial eXploitation Products ecosystem, this presentation will detail new photogrammetric capabilities for stereo pair identification and automated terrain generation, enhanced workflow management, and the automation of AI based object detection. In addition, we’ll discuss how these, and other geospatial exploitation capabilities, can be effectively extended by developers through open APIs.

3D visualization for precision mensuration supporting targeting workflows
Hosted by Kurt DeVenecia – UNCLASSIFIED / CUI SESSION
Date: Thursday 12 August, 1415 EST
As stereo monitor support for precision mensuration continues to decline, analysts and targeteers are turning to 3D visualization interfaces to generate precise coordinates and elevation from satellite imagery. This presentation will detail a method for combining imagery with 3D data to support the derivation of precise ground coordinates that include associated accuracy attributes (CE/LE/TLE).
